Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Concurrently Achieving 4.6 W/M2 and 120,000 Cyclability Enabled by Extendable Swing Arms in Rotational Triboelectric Nanogenerator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rotational energy harvesting device that successfully reconciles high power density with mechanical durability through a hybrid sliding‐and‐bouncing kinematic mechanism is reported. The success reported in our paper includes addressing a dilemma where enhanced electrical output comes at the cost of increased friction and wear, limiting the practical ...

Ventilation-on-Demand: Quantity or Quality — A Pilot Trial at Barrick Gold\u27s Bousquet Mine

open access: yes, 1999
Common to many established mines in Canada, is the problem that their ventilation systems are continually being stretched to meet new needs that were not anticipated in the original design.

Brown Adipocyte Sheets Alleviate Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury Through NRG4–ErbB4–Dependent Ferroptosis Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Brown adipocyte sheets are engineered to protect the heart against myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury by restraining ferroptosis. Upon transplantation onto the cardiac surface, they improve cardiac function, limit infarction and fibrosis, and enhance angiogenesis.

Macrophage‐to‐Myofibroblast Transdifferentiation Contributes to Pulmonary Fibrosis via the MERTK‐SPP1‐SRC‐TKS5 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MERTK is upregulated in fibrotic macrophages and regulates the expression and activity of SRC and TKS5 through SPP1, mediating transdifferentiation of macrophages‐to‐myofibroblasts (MMT) and promoting pulmonary fibrosis. The figure was created with BioRender.com.

Research on technology of key steps of intelligent ventilation in mines

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
The process steps of intelligent ventilation in mines were proposed, which could make the ventilation system more orderly and controllable. The process of intelligent ventilation in mines was divided into six process sections according to the production ...

Making Sweat Measurable: Induction, Sampling, and Refreshment in Wearable Biofluid Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wearable sweat sensing relies not only on chemical detection but also on controlled biofluid management. This Review integrates sweat physiology, induction strategies, and microfluidic sampling architectures, demonstrating how flux, transport, and refreshment shape measurement reliability.

On the Ventilation of Coal Mines [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society
I shall make no apology for the introduction of this subject before the Geological and Polytechnic Society, as it is certain that the person who would discover any safer modes of ventilation, or even any additional precautions to those now in use, and should succeed in having them generally adopted, would be for ever conferring a lasting benefit upon ...
