Chemical Characterization of Transformer Mineral-Insulating Oils

Environmental Forensics, 2010
The chemical composition of a group of 14 refined naphthenic and paraffinic transformer-insulating oils and refinery-treated oils by hydrocracking and hydrotreating are compared with the composition of the starting untreated North Sea naphthenic crude oil.

In-Service Mineral Insulating Oil

2019
Mineral insulating oil is used in electrical equipment of power plants, transmission system and distribution systems. The quality of oil monitoring and maintaining are vital for oil-filled electrical equipment reliable operation. Therefore, operational solutions have been developed by the power generation and transmission companies.

The DC breakdown of mineral insulating oil and oil-pressboard

2013 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2013
AC-DC converter transformer is one of the most important equipments in the high-voltage D.C. transmission system. And the mineral insulating oil and pressboard immersing in oil are important insulation dielectrics used in AC-DC converter transformers. Thus, it is very significant to understand the dielectric properties of the mineral insulating oil and

Comparative PD characteristics of pressboard/mineral oil and pressboard/vegetable oil insulating systems

2012 IEEE International Conference on Condition Monitoring and Diagnosis, 2012
This paper is devoted to a comparative study of partial discharge (PD) characteristics initiated in pressboard/mineral oil and pressboard/vegetable oil insulating systems. We mainly analyze the average number N and maximum apparent charge q ap.max of discharges versus the voltage.

Mineral insulating oil in transformers

IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 1998
Nearly all load bearing transformers in electric power delivery systems around the world are filled with liquid. The liquid functions both as an electrical insulation and as a heat transfer fluid. The liquid in almost all of these units is transformer oil, petroleum-based insulating oil refined specifically to meet the requirements of this application.

The Electrochemical Stability of Mineral Insulating Oils

2000
Successful detection of an incipient electrical failure within the windings of power transformers is based upon the possibility of determining the amount and nature of the gases evolved by the oil when subjected to the impact of a strong electric or thermal stress.

Resistivity of pressboard immersed in mineral insulation oil

2012 IEEE 10th International Conference on the Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials, 2012
The pressboard is an important solid insulation dielectric in AC-DC converter transformers. Thus, it is very significant to understand the dielectric properties of the oil-impregnated pressboard. In this paper, the volume resistivities of oil-impregnated pressboard under different conditions have been systematically investigated.

New electrical insulating mineral oils

Conference on Electrical Insulation & Dielectric Phenomena - Annual Report 1976, 1976
Since World War I, electrical insulating oils for transformers and allied electrical equipment have been refined from naphthenic petroleum crude oil stocks. The resulting oils show little or no wax formation and have acceptable dielectric, mechanical and heat transfer properties at temperatures down to −40°C.
