Metabolic Effects of Mineral Water

open access: yesМедицинский вестник Юга России, 2012
This article presents data on the activating effect of natural physical factors, including mineral waters of Kislovodsk resort acting on the processes of adaptogenesis in different functional systems, increasing the reserve capacity of body, restoring ...

Digital analysis of Potomac River Basin ERTS imagery: Sedimentation levels at the Potomac-Anacostia confluence and strip mining in Allegheny County, Maryland [PDF]

open access: yes
Two simple algorithms for classification of sedimentation levels in water and for delineation of active strip mines are in use as part of the development of a more general resource management information system.

Spin‐Dependent Generation of Surface‐Bound Radicals Toward Selective and Long‐Lasting Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...

Chlorosodic mineral waters

open access: yesBalneo Research Journal, 2011
The category of chlorosodic wtaers are those in that NaCl concentrationper liter exceeding 1g, respectively 393 mg sodium / l and 607 mg Cl / l, whose origin is linked to salt deposits. Depending on their chlorosodic concentration, these mineral waters can be: • hypertonic, the concentration of sodium chloride exceeds 14 g/l.

Issues Related to Incorporating Northern Peatlands into Global Climate Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Northern peatlands cover ~3–4 million km2 (~10% of the land north of 45°N) and contain ~200–400 Pg carbon (~10–20% of total global soil carbon), almost entirely as peat (organic soil).

Atomic‐Level Ionic Displacement Polarization Enhanced Piezocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two isomorphic COFs were synthesized and compared, including an amphoteric COF (SQ‐TAPT) and a neutral COF (PDA‐TAPT). The ionic bonds in SQ‐TAPT introduce more Born effective charges, thereby enhancing its ionic displacement polarization. Experimental and theoretical calculations demonstrated that SQ‐TAPT exhibited higher polarity and stronger ...

Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.
