Planet Populations as a Function of Stellar Properties

open access: yes, 2018
Exoplanets around different types of stars provide a window into the diverse environments in which planets form. This chapter describes the observed relations between exoplanet populations and stellar properties and how they connect to planet formation ...

The Spitzer search for the transits of HARPS low-mass planets - II. Null results for 19 planets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Short-period super-Earths and Neptunes are now known to be very frequent around solar-type stars. Improving our understanding of these mysterious planets requires the detection of a significant sample of objects suitable for detailed characterization ...

TOI-1801 b: A temperate mini-Neptune around a young M0.5 dwarf

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2023
We report the discovery, mass, and radius determination of TOI-1801 b, a temperate mini-Neptune around a young M dwarf. TOI-1801 b was observed in TESS sectors 22 and 49, and the alert that this was a TESS planet candidate with a period of 21.3 days went out in April 2020.

Dynamics and Origins of the Near-resonant Kepler Planets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Short-period super-Earths and mini-Neptunes encircle more than ∼50% of Sun-like stars and are relatively amenable to direct observational characterization.

The Hunt for Exomoons with Kepler (HEK): II. Analysis of Seven Viable Satellite-Hosting Planet Candidates

open access: yes, 2013
From the list of 2321 transiting planet candidates announced by the Kepler Mission, we select seven targets with favorable properties for the capacity to dynamically maintain an exomoon and present a detectable signal.

Evolution and architecture of an exhumed ocean‐facing coarse‐grained submarine canyon fill, Baja California, Mexico

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 189-226, January 2025.
ABSTRACT Present day submarine canyons are active conduits for the transfer of large volumes of sediment, carbon and pollutants from continents to oceans. However, the evolution of submarine canyons over geological timescales remains poorly understood due to their erosional nature and low preservation potential. The Late Cretaceous Punta Baja Formation

Mineral Cloud Formation above Magma Oceans in Sub-Neptune Atmospheres

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The potential presence of a magma surface below a thick atmosphere primarily composed of hydrogen in some sub-Neptune exoplanets suggests a strong link between the interior composition and atmosphere through chemical coupling of volatile and refractory ...

Development and Operation of a Global‐Scale Seismographic Network: The IRIS/USGS GSN

open access: yesPerspectives of Earth and Space Scientists, Volume 5, Issue 1, December 2024.
Abstract From inception in the late 1980s up to the present, the Global Seismographic Network has produced high quality seismic data that has advanced research into the structure of the Earth's deep interior particularly the large‐scale heterogeneous elastic/anelastic structure of the mantle and core. The network's breadth of coverage enables images of
