The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.

Concurrent and predictive validity of the Mini Nutritional Assessment Short-Form and the Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index in older stroke rehabilitation patients.

open access: yesJournal of human nutrition and dietetics (Print), 2019
BACKGROUND Malnutrition may worsen clinical outcomes in stroke patients. Few malnutrition screening tools have been validated in the rehabilitation setting.

Single‐Cell Metabolic Imaging and Digital Scoring of Fat Tissue Remodeling by Label‐Free Metabolic Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mid‐infrared optoacoustic microscopy (MiROM) acquires lipid‐ and protein‐ associated vibrational contrast in intact fat tissue without dyes, preserving native tissue architecture. Through lateral and axial segmentation, MiROM tracks intrinsic intracellular changes during postnatal remodeling. A quantitative spatial analysis tool (Q‐SAT) maps white‐ and

Validation of Mini Nutritional Assessment Scale in peritoneal dialysis patients

open access: yesArchives of Medical Science, 2013
Malnutrition is a negative predictive factor for survival in end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Coincidence of malnutrition, inflammation and atherosclerosis (MIA syndrome) in the dialysis population is an exceptionally poor outcome event. Due to flexibility, ease of performance and reproducibility, clinical scales are of particular value in ...

Restriction of Individual Branched‐Chain Amino Acids has Distinct Effects on the Development and Progression of Alzheimer's Disease in 3xTg Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein restriction (PR) slows Alzheimer's disease (AD) in mice, and other benefits of PR are due to decreased branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs). We show that restricting any BCAA has benefits, with sex‐ and BCAA‐specific impacts on pathology, molecular signaling, and cognition.

Repeated Disuse Atrophy Imprints a Molecular Memory in Skeletal Muscle: Transcriptional Resilience in Young Adults and Susceptibility in Aged Muscle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Repeated disuse imprints a molecular memory in skeletal muscle, conferring transcriptional resilience in young adults but exaggerated susceptibility in aged muscle, driven by epigenetic regulation of aerobic metabolism, mitochondrial and NAD+ pathways.
