Sandwich panel design and performance optimization based on triply periodic minimal surfaces
CAD Computer Aided Design, 2019Abstract Sandwich panel is a promising engineering structure, attracting more and more research attention. Most of current sandwich panels are constructed with plane skins and lattice cores via traditional fabrication processes. In this work, the skin faces of sandwich panels are designed by the freeform T-spline surfaces. The triply periodic minimal

Minimal surface distortion function for optimizing 3D watermarking
IVMSP 2013, 2013A blind 3D watermarking method based on optimizing the placement of displaced vertices on the surface of the 3D object is proposed in this paper. A new mesh distortion function is used as a cost function for the Levenberg-Marquardt optimization algorithm in order to ensure a minimal distortion to the 3D object surface after watermarking.

Path Optimization with Minimal Time at Surface Mount
Advanced Science and Technology Letters, 2015In general, the components stop in front of a vision camera for inspection before moving to their respective placement position. This study presents a method of identifying the fastest path for the gantry when inspecting components without stopping before a camera.

Optimizing triangular high-order surface meshes by energy-minimization
Engineering with Computers, 2017High-order methods are increasingly popular in computational fluid dynamics, but the construction of suitable curvilinear meshes still remains a challenge. This paper presents a strictly local optimization method to construct high-order triangular surface patches of high quality and accuracy.

Optimization of three- and four-element lens systems by minimizing the caustic surfaces
Applied Optics, 1990For an imaging optical system it is, in general, desirable to transform a collection of point sources of light into point images distributed over the focal plane with the appropriate magnification. In practice, this is achieved by varying the lens system parameters such that the spread of a bundle of rays from each object point over the image plane has
