Tactile Feedback for Artery Detection in Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery –Preliminary Results of a New Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Minimally invasive robotic surgery (MIRS) entails total absence of haptic feedback due to the spatial separation of patient and surgeon. In conventional surgery, however, palpation to detect superficial arteries by a slight pulsation is an important,

Introduction of less invasive surfactant administration (LISA), impact on diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in early life: a historical cohort study

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2020
Background In preterm infants with Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), Less Invasive Surfactant Administration (LISA) has been established to reduce the need of mechanical ventilation and might improve survival rates without bronchopulmonary dysplasia ...

Clinical Outcomes of Minimally Invasive Surfactant Therapy via Tracheal Catheterization in Neonates with a Gestational Age of 30 Weeks or More Diagnosed with Respiratory Distress Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesNeonatal Medicine, 2018
Purpose Minimally invasive surfactant therapy (MIST) is currently used as a method of surfactant replacement therapy (SRT) for the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in preterm infants with a gestational age of less than 30 weeks.

Purpose built catheters for minimally invasive surfactant therapy: Experience from a Canadian tertiary level neonatal intensive care unit

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Respiratory Therapy, 2023
# Background Minimally invasive surfactant therapy (MIST), a method of surfactant delivery via a thin catheter during spontaneous breathing, is an increasingly popular alternative to intubation and surfactant administration.

The Miracles of Surfactant: Less Invasive Surfactant Administration, Nebulization, and Carrier of Topical Drugs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Surfactant replacement therapy (SRT) has long become the standard of care in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), significantly decreasing acute pulmonary morbidity and mortality in preterm infants.

High-volume surfactant administration using a minimally invasive technique: Experience from a Canadian Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

open access: yesPaediatrics & Child Health, 2018
Abstract Background Surfactant delivery via a thin endotracheal catheter during spontaneous breathing, a technique called minimally invasive surfactant therapy (MIST), is an alternative to intubation and surfactant administration.

Recent advances in minimally invasive colorectal cancer surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Laparoscopy has improved surgical treatment of various diseases due to its limited surgical trauma and has developed as an interesting therapeutic alternative for the resection of colorectal cancer.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Fiberoptic 6-DOF Force-Torque-Sensing for Haptic Feedback in Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In minimally invasive robotic surgery long and slender instruments are introduced into the body of the patient through small incisions or natural orifices.
