Dominance properties of constrained Bayes and empirical Bayes estimators

open access: yes, 2013
This paper studies decision theoretic properties of benchmarked estimators which are of some importance in small area estimation problems. Benchmarking is intended to improve certain aggregate properties (such as study-wide averages) when model based ...

Feasibility of Simon Two‐Stage Futility Trials in People with Early, Symptomatically Treated Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 190-199, January 2026.
Abstract Background Disease‐modifying treatments are a critical unmet need in Parkinson's disease (PD). Phase 2 futility trials using the Simon two‐stage design offer an efficient strategy to evaluate candidate treatments in an early PD population. Objective The aim was to assess the feasibility of Simon two‐stage futility trials in early, levodopa ...

A Geometric Approach to Group Delay Network Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2016
All-pass networks with prescribed group delay are used for analog signal processing and equalisation of transmission channels. The state-of-the-art methods for synthesising quasi-arbitrary group delay functions using all-pass elements lack a theoretical ...

Model Assisted Variable Clustering: Minimax-optimal Recovery and Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Model-based clustering defines population level clusters relative to a model that embeds notions of similarity. Algorithms tailored to such models yield estimated clusters with a clear statistical interpretation.

Fast Gradient‐Based Algorithm for Doppler‐Tolerant Radar Waveform Design

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 62, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This work proposes an efficient algorithm for Doppler‐tolerant radar waveform design using dynamic weighting and automatic differentiation. Achieves 1 dB lower peak sidelobe level with 8 times faster computation compared to existing methods, while scaling efficiently to longer code lengths.

Sparse additive regression on a regular lattice

open access: yes, 2014
We consider estimation in a sparse additive regression model with the design points on a regular lattice. We establish the minimax convergence rates over Sobolev classes and propose a Fourier-based rate-optimal estimator which is adaptive to the unknown ...

The GJMS operators in geometry, analysis and physics

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The GJMS operators, introduced by Graham, Jenne, Mason and Sparling, are a family of conformally invariant linear differential operators with leading term a power of the Laplacian. These operators and their method of construction have had a major impact in geometry, analysis and physics.

Semilinear elliptic problems on unbounded subsets of the Heisenberg group

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2001
In this paper we discuss the applications of an abstract version of concentration compactness to minimax problems. In particular, we prove the existence of solutions to semilinear elliptic problems on unbounded subsets of the Heisenberg group.

Existence of two nontrivial solutions for semilinear elliptic problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
This paper concerns the existence of multiple nontrivial solutions for some nonlinear problems. The first nontrivial solution is found using a minimax method, and the second by computing the Leray-Schauder index and the critical group near 0.
