Existence result for the CR-Yamabe equation
In this note we will prove that the CR-Yamabe equation has infinitely many changing-sign solutions. The problem is variational but the associated functional does not satisfy the Palais-Smale compactness condition; by mean of a suitable group action we ...

The effectiveness of electromagnetic terahertz radiation use in the treatment of patients with rapidly progressive periodontitis [PDF]
The aim: to increase the efficiency of treatment of patients with rapidly progressive periodontitis (RPP) using electromagnetic radiation at terahertz frequencies of molecular spectrum of radiation and absorption of nitric oxide 150,176-150,664 GHz ...

Existence and multiplicity of nontrivial solutions for double resonance semilinear elliptic problems
We consider resonance problems at an arbitrary eigenvalue of the Laplacien. We prove the existence of nontrivial solutions for some semilinear elliptic Dirichlet boundary values problems. We also obtain two nontrivial solutions by using Morse theory.

Variable selection, monotone likelihood ratio and group sparsity
International audienceIn the pivotal variable selection problem, we derive the exact non-asymptotic minimax selector over the class of all s-sparse vectors, which is also the Bayes selector with respect to the uniform prior.

Soluble minimax groups with the subnormal intersection property
in which each term is normal in its successor and each factor satisfies either the maximum or the minimum condition for subgroups. A group G has the subnormal intersection property if the intersection of each collection of subnormal subgroups of G is itself a subnormal subgroup of G, that is, if G contains a subnormal closure of every subgroup of G ...

Epistemic minimax and related principles in the contemporary epistemic environment [PDF]
In this chapter, we explore the prospects of epistemic minimax and related principles. Minimax is a well-known approach to choosing a strategy under conditions of risk and uncertainty. In individual cases, the minimax strategy selects the action that can

Simple Synchronous and Asynchronous Algorithms for Distributed Minimax Optimization
Synchronous and asynchronous algorithms are presented for distributed minimax optimization. The objective here is to realize the minimization of the maximum of component functions over the standard multi-agent network, where each node of the network ...

Nontrivial solutions for nonlinear elliptic problems via Morse theory
We prove the existence of nontrivial solutions for perturbations of p-Laplacian. Our approach combine minimax arguments and Morse Theory, under the conditions on the behaviors of the perturbed function $f(x,t)$ or its primitive $F(x,t)$ near infinity and

Determination of stability of epimetamorphic rock slope using Minimax Probability Machine
The article employs Minimax Probability Machine (MPM) for the prediction of the stability status of epimetamorphic rock slope. The MPM gives a worst-case bound on the probability of misclassification of future data points.
