Effects of phase aberration correction methods on the minimum variance beamformer

2016 38th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2016
The minimum variance (MV) beamformer is a method that has the potential to enhance the resolution and contrast of ultrasound images. However, it suffers from sensitivity to speed of sound errors and aberration. Although there have been several studies on the application of phase aberration correction (PAC) methods to conventional delay-and-sum (DAS ...

Electrostatic Electron Lenses with a Minimum of Spherical Aberration

Journal of Applied Physics, 1942
A method is suggested for the construction of electrostatic electron lenses by building equipotential surfaces whose position in space is calculated from an assumed axial potential. The calculations are carried through for examples of symmetrical and immersion lenses.

Minimum Aberration Fractional Factorial Designs With LargeN

Technometrics, 2010
Xu has cataloged 165 minimum aberration (MA) regular fractional factorial (FF) designs with 2-levels and large run sizes N=128 (m=8–64 factors), N=256 (m=9–28, 109–119), N=512 (m=10–25, 238–246), N=1024 (m=11–24, 488–501), N=2048 (m=12–23), and N=4096 (m=13–24). Such an extensive catalog was produced because of an improved algorithm.

Minimum Aperture Aberrations of Quadrupole Lens Systems

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1970
A focusing system for monochromatic beams of charged particles, with magnetic quadrupole fields having common planes of optical symmetry, is treated theoretically. After specifying certain linear focusing properties for such systems, the calculus of variations is applied to obtain systems with minimum aperture aberrations.
