Prediction of the minimum fluidization velocity

Powder Technology, 1993
Abstract Relations to determine the minimum fluidization velocity (umf) are tested statistically with 80 measurements reported in the literature on 20 different substances. All relevant relations (33 equations) can be reformulated as dimensions correlations in which the state of the fluidized bed is determined by the parameter Ar/Remf.

Minimum Fluidization Velocity of Fine Particles

Materials Science Forum, 2008
The minimum fluidization velocity is an important parameter in the design and operation of an industrial unit of fluidization. In the present work the minimum fluidization velocities of fine particles were obtained through two experimental methodologies.

Minimum fluidization velocity of binary mixtures

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1989
AbstractThe fast defluidization method was used to measure the minimum fluidization velocities of binary systems. Based on the experimental data obtained from the published literature and from this work, different correlations used for predicting the minimum fluidization velocities of binary systems were evaluated and compared.

An Experimental Study on the Determination of Minimum Fluidization Velocity

Bayburt Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi, 2023
Pneumatic conveying systems are widely used in a variety of industrial settings since different types of materials can be conveyed. There are some classifications of flow modes for conveying of powders and bulk solid particles based on mean particle size, density, and inter particle cohesion forces.

Prediction of the minimum fluidization velocity

Powder Technology, 1994
Abstract The use of equations of the Ergun form to correlate minimum fluidizing velocity is examined. For particle Reynolds numbers greater than 5, a linearized fitting procedure gives a good approximation to available data. However, the results for lower Reynolds numbers are shown to reveal variations in void function and particle sphericity.

Prediction of minimum fluidization velocity

1997
Any feasible prediction of fluidized bed heat transfer must start with the prediction of its onset, i. e. with the prediction of the minimum fluidization velocity. Furthermore, as will be shown in Chapter 7, the correlation for the prediction of bubbling fluidized heat transfer will contain minimum fluidization velocity instead of particle size, i.

Minimum fluidization velocity at high temperatures

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1987

Minimum fluidizing velocities for coal in air

The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1958
AbstractThis paper reviews the methods which have been proposed for evaluating the lower limit of velocity for which a fluidized bed of solids will be stable. Experimental tests for determining the minimum fluidizing velocity have been obtained for nine narrowly sized coal samples ranging from 0.0099 to 0.224 in.

Multiphase Particle in Cell Simulations of Fluidized Beds: Studies on Bubble Rise Velocity and Minimum Fluidization Velocity

Chemie Ingenieur Technik, 2021
AbstractMultiphase particle in a cell simulation of fluidized beds for different Geldart group particles (A, B and D) were investigated. The minimum fluidization velocities predicted by the Barracuda Virtual Reactor® were compared and contrasted by theoretical predictions with the Wen‐Yu model.
