Nonlinear Distortion-Aware Channel Estimation Strategies for IRS-Aided MIMO Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
The article addresses the challenges posed by nonlinear distortions in Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS)-assisted Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems, which are often overlooked in conventional channel estimation strategies.

On regret of parametric mismatch in minimum mean square error estimation [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2010
This paper studies the effect of parametric mismatch in minimum mean square error (MMSE) estimation. In particular, we consider the problem of estimating the input signal from the output of an additive white Gaussian channel whose gain is fixed, but unknown. The input distribution is known, and the estimation process consists of two algorithms.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Proportionate Minimum Error Entropy Algorithm for Sparse System Identification

open access: yesEntropy, 2015
Sparse system identification has received a great deal of attention due to its broad applicability. The proportionate normalized least mean square (PNLMS) algorithm, as a popular tool, achieves excellent performance for sparse system identification.

Novel Modeling and Filtering for Stochastic Switched Systems With Heterogeneous Behaviors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
A novel heterogeneous behavior representation for linear stochastic switched system is proposed in the discrete-time domain. The switching modes of state evolution and measurement output are described by two random sequences with known probability ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...
