Investigation of chimeric reads using the MinION [PDF]
Following a nanopore sequencing run of PCR products of three amplicons less than 1kb, an abundance of reads failed quality control due to template/complement mismatch. A BLAST search demonstrated that some of the failed reads mapped to two different genes -- an unexpected observation, given that PCR was carried out separately for each amplicon.

Long‐read whole‐genome sequencing revealed extensive chromosomal rearrangements and aneuploidy in a widely used Chlamydomonas reinhardtii stt7‐1 mutant. The STT7 gene (shown in red) was found to be split between two rearranged chromosomes, providing a molecular explanation for the long‐standing failure of this mutant in genetic crosses.

ABSTRACT Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a pathogen associated with healthcare‐acquired infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to beta‐lactams and carbapenems. Although wild animals are not typically exposed to antibiotics, they can harbour resistant strains. The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is increasingly found in urban areas,

ABSTRACT Islands harbour unique biodiversity, and depending on their geological origin, they have fundamentally different colonisation histories: continental islands may contain relict faunas shaped by vicariance and sporadic gene flow, whereas oceanic islands must have been colonised across open seas, often through long‐distance dispersal events ...

Minion: A fast scalable constraint solver [PDF]
. We present Minion, a new constraint solver. Empirical results on standard benchmarks show orders of magnitude performance gains over state-of-the-art constraint toolkits.

Development of novel bioinformatic pipelines for MinION-based DNA barcoding [PDF]
DNA-barcoding is the process of taxonomic identification based on the sequence of a marker gene. When complex samples are analysed, we refer in particular to meta-barcoding. Barcoding has traditionally been performed with Sanger sequencing platform.

Whole Genome Assembly and Annotation of Two Invasive Sitona Species
ABSTRACT Weevils are a highly diversified taxon, comprising about 70,000 described species, including many of high economic importance. Here, we present whole genome assemblies and annotations of two Sitona species (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Entiminae).
