Changes in Site Occupancy of Marsh‐Breeding Frogs Are Associated With Surrounding Land Cover: Implications for Conservation Planning

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
To help ensure the growth and persistence of frog populations, we quantified changes in frog occurrence as a function of concurrent changes in land cover in the surrounding landscape of eight marsh‐breeding frog species, or groups of species. We used data from the Great Lakes Marsh Monitoring Program delivered by Birds Canada at 377 sites across four ...

Percent mink positive for viral DNA (PCR) and AMDV antibodies (ELISA) in three different age groups; juvenile (24 of 56 mink and 14 of 55 mink, respectively); one year old (28 of 47 mink and 26 of 45 mink, respectively) and mink two years or older (15 of 18 mink and 16 of 18 mink, respectively).

SNP markers associated with body size and pelt length in American mink (Neovison vison)

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2018
Background Identification of genes underlying production traits is a key aim of the mink research community. Recent availability of genomic tools have opened the possibility for faster genetic progress in mink breeding.

Invasive Predator Eradication Programme Yields Recovery of an Endangered Native Mammal

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Removal of invasive predators is widely used to mitigate impacts on native species, yet conservation outcomes are rarely quantified. We evaluated a coordinated, landscape‐scale American mink (Neogale vison) eradication programme across 18,500 km2 in eastern England, UK.

Frustrations of fur-farmed mink

open access: yes, 2001
Captive animals may suffer if strongly motivated to perform activities that their housing does not allow. We investigated this experimentally for caged mink, and found that they would pay high costs to perform a range of natural behaviours, and release ...

Emergence and spread of SARS-CoV-2 variants from farmed mink to humans and back during the epidemic in Denmark, June-November 2020.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) not only caused the COVID-19 pandemic but also had a major impact on farmed mink production in several European countries.

Off-midline versus supraumbilical specimen extraction sites in robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. [PDF]

open access: yesBJU Int
Objectives To compare two different specimen extraction sites (SES) (off‐midline [OM] vs. supraumbilical) for the incidence of incisional hernias (IHs) and to evaluate different risk factors for their occurrence after robot‐assisted radical prostatectomy.

Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy in New Zealand: A Review of Coronial Recommendations

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) remains a leading cause of post‐neonatal mortality in Aotearoa New Zealand. We analysed New Zealand coronial findings and recommendations to identify recurring modifiable risks, social determinants of health, and system‐level failures that might inform prevention strategies.

Experimental Staphyloenterotoxicosis in Mink

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 1980
Experimental staphyloenterotoxicosis was produced in minks by oral administration of mink feed containing 5 or 200 µg of purified enterotoxin A per test animal. The animals became very exhausted after the ingestion of toxin. Vomiting was observed in two of seven minks of the lower toxin group with a latent period of 2.5 to 4.0 h.

A systematic review and meta‐analysis of variation in nest predation of ground‐nesting birds

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Predation and communities of predators of ground‐nesting bird nests and fledglings have been studied across multiple groups of ground‐nesting birds, such as waders, waterbirds, gamebirds and passerines, and habitats, but differences and similarities between groups are less studied.
