Experimental infection with T. canis and T. leonina in farm mink (Neovison vison)

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research, 2019
Introduction: Farm mink (Neovison vison) can be naturally exposed to T. canis and T. leonina pathogens on the farm. If mink were hosts, it would imply some veterinary public health as well as animal welfare issues.

Population dynamics and reproductive success of Short‐eared Owls in relation to widely fluctuating food abundance and farmland habitat degradation

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Populations of the Short‐eared Owl Asio flammeus have declined across Europe and North America, probably in response to habitat degradation driven by agricultural intensification. However, long‐term evidence linking farmland habitat change to variation in breeding density and reproductive success remains limited.

Hybridization of domestic mink with wild American mink (Neovison vison) in eastern Canada [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Farmed American mink (Neovison vison (Schreber, 1777)) pose a risk to biodiversity owing to escape and release from farms. Feral mink may affect native species in locations where American mink are not endemic, such as Europe.

Characterizing Runs of Homozygosity and Inbreeding in American Mink Using SNP Data and Pedigree Information

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inbreeding increases the likelihood of deleterious recessive alleles becoming homozygous and consequently affecting economically important traits. Runs of homozygosity (ROH), the continuous homozygous segments of the genome and the higher than expected homozygosity (HOM) are genomic indicators of inbreeding, quantified as FROH and FHOM ...

Full genome comparison and characterization of avian H10 viruses with different pathogenicity in Mink (Mustela vison) reveals genetic and functional differences in the non-structural gene

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2010
Background The unique property of some avian H10 viruses, particularly the ability to cause severe disease in mink without prior adaptation, enabled our study.

Double‐blind, sham‐controlled, trial of rhythmic 10 Hz median nerve stimulation for the reduction of tics in Tourette syndrome: Analyses of 3‐month follow‐up data for those receiving active stimulation

open access: yesJournal of Neuropsychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Tourette syndrome [TS] is a neurological disorder of childhood onset characterised by the occurrence of tics: repetitive, purposeless movements or vocalisations. Effective treatment for tic disorders is an area of considerable unmet clinical need.

Prevalence of Aleutian Mink Disease Virus (AMDV) in Free-Ranging American Mink from Biebrza and Narew National Parks (Poland)—An Epidemiological Concern

open access: yesAnimals
Aleutian Mink Disease Virus (AMDV) is the causative agent of Aleutian disease (AD). This progressive and chronic disorder significantly impacts the mink breeding industry, affecting farmed and free-ranging American and European mink.
