Efficiency in Pure‐Exchange Economies With Risk‐Averse Monetary Utilities
ABSTRACT We study Pareto efficiency in a pure‐exchange economy where agents' preferences are represented by risk‐averse monetary utilities. These coincide with law‐invariant monetary utilities, and they can be shown to correspond to the class of monotone, (quasi‐)concave, Schur concave, and translation‐invariant utility functionals. This covers a large

Causal particle detectors and topology
We investigate particle detector responses in some topologically non-trivial spacetimes. We extend a recently proposed regularization of the massless scalar field Wightman function in 4-dimensional Minkowski space to arbitrary dimension, to the massive ...

Phenomenal knowledge and phenomenal causality
Abstract There has been extensive debate over whether we can have phenomenal knowledge in the case of epiphenomenalism. This article aims to bring that debate to a close. I first develop a refined causal account of knowledge—one that is modest enough to avoid various putative problems, yet sufficiently robust to undermine the epiphenomenalist position.

ABSTRACT How should we understand the duration of a pleasant or unpleasant sensation, insofar as its duration modulates how good or bad the experience is overall? Given that we seem able to distinguish between subjective and objective duration and that how well or badly someone's life goes is naturally thought of as something to be assessed from her ...

Recent advancements in artificial intelligence‐powered cancer prediction from oral microbiome
Abstract Oral cancer is a major global health burden, ranking sixth in prevalence, with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) being the most common type. Importantly, OSCC is often diagnosed at late stages, underscoring the need for innovative methods for early detection.

Geometric properties of the Minkowski operator
This article is about Minkowski difference of sets, which is one of the Minkowski operators. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the Minkowski difference of given regular polygons in the plane were derived. The method of finding

Time as a geometric property of space
The proper description of time remains a key unsolved problem in science. Newton conceived of time as absolute and universal which it `flows equably without relation to anything external'}.

On the Fourier transform of measures in Besov spaces
Abstract We prove quantitative estimates for the decay of the Fourier transform of the Riesz potential of measures that are in homogeneous Besov spaces of the negative exponent: ∥Iαμ̂∥Lp,∞⩽C∥μ∥Mb12supt>0td−β2∥pt*μ∥∞12,$$\begin{align*} \Vert \widehat{I_{\alpha }\mu }\Vert _{L^{p, \infty }} \leqslant C \Vert \mu \Vert _{M_b}^{\frac{1}{2}}{\left(\sup _{t ...

Langevin simulation in Minkowski space?
Abstract We present in this paper a “tentative”, “formal” proof that the Langevin simulation for relativistic systems can be performed directly in Minkowski space without rotating to euclidean time. The proof bypasses the difficult task of studying the spectrum of the non-self-adjoint Fokker-Planck hamiltonian and it is based on a dimensional ...
