Performance Evaluation of Upper‐Level Ontologies in Developing Materials Science Ontologies and Knowledge Graphs

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article provides examples of ontology development in the materials science domain (use‐case of Brinell hardness testing) and gives ontology developers an overview for selecting their desired top‐level ontologies (e.g., BFO, EMMO, PROVO) by considering different evaluation parameters like semantic richness, domain coverage, extensibility ...

Can Microsoft Academic help to assess the citation impact of academic books? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Despite recent evidence that Microsoft Academic is an extensive source of citation counts for journal articles, it is not known if the same is true for academic books. This paper fills this gap by comparing citations to 16,463 books from 2013-2016 in the Book Citation Index (BKCI) against automatically extracted citations from Microsoft Academic and ...

Ontology‐Based Digital Infrastructure for Data‐Driven Glass Development

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work addresses the inefficiencies in traditional glass development by implementing an ontology‐based digital infrastructure coupled with a high‐throughput robotic melting system. The approach integrates machine learning models, predictive tools, and a semantic database.

2H‐Au Nanosheet‐Templated Growth of PdFe for Electrocatalytic Methanol Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2H‐to‐face‐centered cubic (fcc) phase transformation of 2H‐Au happens when PdFe alloy epitaxially grows on 2H‐Au nanosheets (NSs), forming 2H/fcc Au@PdFe NSs, and the 2H/fcc phase ratio in 2H/fcc Au@PdFe NSs can be tuned correspondingly by changing the Pd/Fe atomic ratio.

Exploring Study Abroad with Traditionally Underrepresented Populations: Impacts of Institutional Types [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The study investigated roles of institutional types and ethnic/racial background on academic credit among the traditionally underrepresented population of the U.S. study abroad program. Using archival data, the study sampled the students' enrollment and academic credit information spanning a period of 20 years (2003 - 2022). Data analysis Using One-Way

Embeddings of Schur functions into types B/C/D [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
We consider the problem of embedding the semi-ring of Schur-positive symmetric polynomials into its analogue for the classical types $B/C/D$. If we preserve highest weights and add the additional Lie-theoretic parity assumption that the weights in images of Schur functions lie in a single translate of the root lattice, there are exactly two solutions ...
