On the computation of $\pi$-flat outputs for differential-delay systems

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce a new definition of $\pi$-flatness for linear differential delay systems with time-varying coefficients. We characterize $\pi$- and $\pi$-0-flat outputs and provide an algorithm to efficiently compute such outputs.

Effects of Same-Race Mentorship Preferences on Academic Performance and Survival [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Same-race mentorship preference refers to mentors or mentees forming connections significantly influenced by a shared race. Although racial diversity in science has been well-studied and linked to favorable outcomes, the extent and effects of same-race mentorship preferences remain largely underexplored.

Evolving network structure of academic institutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Today's colleges and universities consist of highly complex structures that dictate interactions between the administration, faculty, and student body. These structures can play a role in dictating the efficiency of policy enacted by the administration and determine the effect that curriculum changes in one department have on other departments. Despite

Robust acute myeloid leukemia engraftment in humanized scaffolds using injectable biomaterials and intravenous xenotransplantation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) can be improved by implantation of a humanized niche. We tested different biomaterials and approaches, and demonstrate that the combination of an injectable biomaterial for scaffold creation plus an intravenous route for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) xenotransplantation provide the most convenient and robust approach to

Scalp Hematoma Characteristics Associated With Intracranial Injury in Pediatric Minor Head Injury.

open access: yesAcademic Emergency Medicine, 2016
OBJECTIVES Minor head trauma accounts for a significant proportion of pediatric emergency department (ED) visits. In children younger than 24 months, scalp hematomas are thought to be associated with the presence of intracranial injury (ICI).

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Prevalence of the Academic Research Consortium for High Bleeding Risk Criteria and Prognostic Value of a Simplified Definition.

open access: yesCirculation Journal, 2020
BACKGROUND The Academic Research Consortium for High Bleeding Risk (ARC-HBR) criteria have been suggested as the standard definition of HBR. However, the prevalence of individual criteria and their prognostic value for long-term bleeding events after ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

Retention in STEM: Factors Influencing Student Persistence and Employment [PDF]

open access: yesThe Proceedings of the 19th Annual National Symposium on Student Retention, 2023, 2023
This study utilizes data from the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study to explore factors associated with the likelihood of students' employment in STEM fields one year after graduation. We examined various factors related to students' individual characteristics (e.g., gender, race, and financial situation), institutional experiences (e.g ...
