Chaotic Capture of a Retrograde Moon by Venus and the Reversal of Its Spin

open access: yesUniverse, 2023
Planets are surrounded by fractal surfaces (traditionally called Hill spheres), separating the inner zones of long-term stable orbital motion of their satellites from the outer space where the gravitational pull from the Sun takes over.

HelioLinC: A Novel Approach to the Minor Planet Linking Problem

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 2018
We present HelioLinC, a novel approach to the minor planet linking problem. Our heliocentric transformation-and-propagation algorithm clusters tracklets at common epochs, allowing for the efficient identification of tracklets that represent the same ...

Two drastically different climate states on an Earth-like terra-planet [PDF]

open access: yesEarth System Dynamics, 2018
We study an Earth-like terra-planet (water-limited terrestrial planet) with an overland recycling mechanism bringing fresh water back from the high latitudes to the low latitudes.

EVIDENCE FOR AN ANHYDROUS CARBONACEOUS EXTRASOLAR MINOR PLANET [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Using Keck/HIRES, we report abundances of 11 different elements heavier than helium in the spectrum of Ton 345, a white dwarf that has accreted one of its own minor planets.

Clinical implementation of PLANET® Dose for dosimetric assessment after [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-TATE: comparison with Dosimetry Toolkit® and OLINDA/EXM® V1.0

open access: yesEJNMMI Research, 2021
Background The aim of this study was to compare a commercial dosimetry workstation (PLANET® Dose) and the dosimetry approach (GE Dosimetry Toolkit® and OLINDA/EXM® V1.0) currently used in our department for quantification of the absorbed dose (AD) to ...

A Note on the Spin–Orbit, Spin–Spin, and Spin–Orbit–Spin Resonances in the Binary Minor Planet System

open access: yes, 2017
By considering a varying mutual orbit between the two bodies in a binary minor planet system, modified models for the spin–orbit, spin–spin, and spin–orbit–spin resonances are given.

Can the Gravitational Effect of Planet X be Detected in Current-era Tracking of the Known Major and Minor Planets?

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal, 2023
Using Fisher information matrices, we forecast the uncertainties σ _M on the measurement of a “Planet X” at heliocentric distance d _X via its tidal gravitational field’s action on the known planets.

Planet - Disk Symbiosis [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.606:L77-L80,2004, 2003
Planets form in disks around young stars. Interactions with these disks cause them to migrate and thus affect their final orbital periods. We suggest that the connection between planets and disks may be deeper and involve a symbiotic evolution. By contributing to the outward transport of angular momentum, planets promote disk accretion.
