Actual Versus Potential Impact: Leveraging Life Cycle Assessment to Implement Business Models for Sustainability

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research on business models for sustainability (BMfS) has primarily focused on the conceptual aspects and sustainability potential of BMfS rather than their actual impact. There is a need to understand whether BMfS have less environmental impact on society than conventional business models and in what context and conditions they can reduce ...

Improving the Performance of Potassium Birnessite Cathodes for Sodium‐Ion Batteries by Partial Ion Exchange

open access: yesBattery Energy, EarlyView.
Potassium birnessite samples prepared by a sol–gel route and calcined at several temperatures are studied in sodium‐ion batteries. Potassium ions are partly exchanged by sodium ions inside the cathode. The remaining potassium ions and the interlayer crystal water in the structure act as pillars, allowing structural stability, improved capacity ...

Nickel‐Doped h‐MoO3 Cathodes: A High‐Performance Material for Aluminum‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesBattery Energy, EarlyView.
Nickel‐doped hexagonal molybdenum trioxide (h‐MoO₃) shows a promising improvement in the capacity and stability of aluminum‐ion batteries. This work utilizes a simple precipitation method to incorporate nickel into h‐MoO₃, combined with a urea‐based electrolyte, achieving higher discharge capacities and extended cycling stability.

Enhancing the Activity and Stability of IrO2 for the Oxygen Evolution Reaction over a Wide pH Range using Electrodeposited BaO2

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
Developing robust electrocatalysts for proton exchange membrane electrolysers is an ongoing challenge. Here it is shown that including electrodeposited BaO2 particles onto IrO2 improves both the activity and stability of IrO2 for the oxygen evolution rection in acidic, neutral and alkaline electrolytes.
