PERIOD ESTIMATION FOR SPARSELY SAMPLED QUASI-PERIODIC LIGHT CURVES APPLIED TO MIRAS [PDF]
We develop a nonlinear semi-parametric Gaussian process model to estimate periods of Miras with sparsely sampled light curves. The model uses a sinusoidal basis for the periodic variation and a Gaussian process for the stochastic changes.

Phase Lags in the Optical-Infrared Light Curves of AGB Stars
To search for phase lags in the optical-infrared light curves of asymptotic giant branch stars, we have compared infrared data from the COBE DIRBE satellite with optical light curves from the AAVSO and other sources. We found 17 examples of phase lags in

Luminosities of AGB Variables [PDF]
The prevailing evidence suggests that most large-amplitude AGB variables follow the period luminosity (PL) relation that has been established for Miras in the LMC and galactic globular clusters.

Mechanically Deposited Wear‐Resistant Amorphous Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 Coatings
Mechanically deposited from glassy ribbons, the Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 amorphous coating formed a hard, continuous layer on AISI 1010 steel, tripling substrate hardness, lowering friction, and reducing wear. Despite its rough surface, it showed friction and wear behavior comparable to the crystalline alloy, highlighting its strong potential as a durable ...

Asymptotic Giant Branch Stars in the Sculptor Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
JHK_S photometry is presented for a 35 arcmin square field centred on the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy. With the aid of published kinematic data definite galaxy members are identified and the width in J-K of the colour-magnitude diagram is shown to ...

CARBON AND OXYGEN ISOTOPIC RATIOS FOR NEARBY MIRAS [PDF]
Carbon and oxygen isotopic ratios are reported for a sample of 46 Mira and SRa-type variable asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. Vibration–rotation first and second-overtone CO lines in 1.5–2.5 μm spectra were measured to derive isotopic ratios for 12C ...

A two‐step approach combining laser powder bed fusion of FeSi electrical steel with Bakelite infiltration enables the fabrication of multifunctional gyroid lattice composites. The resulting structures exhibit high strength, magnetic anisotropy, and complete polymer infiltration, demonstrating a simple and scalable route toward lightweight, mechanically
