Thermodynamic Prediction of Spinodal Decomposition in Multi-component Silicate Glass for Design of Functional Porous Glass Materials

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2012
The authors have investigated metastable phase separation in multi-component silicate glass for the fabrication of porous glass from multi-component slag.

SOLUBILITY AND MISCIBILITY OF REFRIGERANTS R407C AND R410A WITH SYNTHETIC COMPRESSOR OILS

open access: yesHolodilʹnaâ Tehnika i Tehnologiâ, 2016
In this paper, solubility and low temperature miscibility of refrigerants R407C and R410A in four different commercial Polyolester (POE) lubricants, produced by the same company but with different ISO standard viscosity grade, are measured with the aim ...

Role of Thermodynamics and Kinetics in the Composition of Ternary III-V Nanowires

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
We explain the composition of ternary nanowires nucleating from a quaternary liquid melt. The model we derive describes the evolution of the solid composition from the nucleated-limited composition to the kinetic one. The effect of the growth temperature,

Characterization of copper & stainless steel interface produced by electron beam powder bed fusion

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
Unalloyed copper (Cu) powder was deposited and melted onto a pre-existing stainless steel substrate using electron beam powder bed fusion (EB-PBF) additive manufacturing (AM) to form dense, bimetallic structures. The AM fabricated Cu was fully dense, and

Miscibility Gaps in Fused Salts

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1967
Molten mixtures of HgCl2, HgBr2 and HgJ2 with alkali nitrates have been investigated. Two liquids regions occur in the following systems: HgCl2 + (Li, Na) NO3, HgBr2 + (Li, Na, K, Rb) NO3 and HgJ2 + (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) NO3. The ability of demixing progressively increases in the sense Cs → Li and Cl → J.

Thermodynamic reassessment of the La-Mn system [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mining and Metallurgy. Section B: Metallurgy, 2012
The binary La-Mn system is investigated by CALPHAD approach. The experimental phase diagram and thermodynamic data available in the literature are critically reviewed and assessed using the thermodynamic models for the Gibbs energies of individual ...

Miscibility Gaps in Fused Salts

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1970
Abstract The two families of systems formed by silver halides with alkali Chromates and tungstates have been systematically investigated in order to bring into evidence possible demixing phenomena. It has been found that silver chloride demixes with lithium Chromate and tungstate and with sodium tungstate; silver bromide demixes with ...

Phase field simulations in miscibility gaps [PDF]

open access: yesCalphad, 2009
Abstract Using phase field simulations, it is possible to simulate the dynamics and morphology of immiscible liquids/solids appearing at the miscibility gap of any system. These simulations may also be used to determine the asymptotic compositions of the fluids for a given Gibbs energy.

Design and characterization of a novel lightweight multicomponent alloy Al58Zn28Mg6Si8

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
This paper presents a novel multicomponent alloy Al58Zn28Mg6Si8, with a density of 3.46 g/cm3, which incorporates concepts from high entropy alloys. The optimum alloy composition was determined using the CALPHAD approach and binary and ternary diagrams ...

Miscibility Gaps in Fused Salts

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1973
Twelve systems formed with lithium fluoride and alkali halides were studied in order to put into evidence possible demixing phenomena. Liquiddiquid equilibra were found in the seven mixtures containing KBr, KI, RbBr, Rbl, CsCl, CsBr, and Csl; however, the miscibility gaps could be fully detected only for LiF + CsCl, LiF + KBr and LiF + RbBr.
