Seafood mislabeling and consumer assessment.

open access: yes, 2012
Fraudulent mislabeling in the seafood supply chain usually involves substitution of wild species with farmed, and misidentification of common fish as more exotic species. A survey of Spanish households found confusión in how Pangasius fillets were named, labeled and marketed. As expected, consumers paid more when the fillets were sold as flounder.

A systematic color correction pipeline for controlled‐environment imaging

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
ABSTRACT We present a stepwise color correction (CC) pipeline for controlled imaging environments. The workflow integrates flat‐field correction (FFC), gamma correction, and white‐balance correction, followed by a color‐mapping (CM) stage using machine‐learning regression—linear, partial least squares, and neural networks (NNs)—to deliver reliable CC ...

Rapid Identification of Edible Insect Species in Food Using MALDI‐TOF Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 13, 15 July 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Edible insects are emerging as sustainable, nutritious ‘foods of the future’ and are gradually introduced to the European market as novel foods. Ensuring consumer safety and preventing fraud requires legal regulation, which in turn depends on reliable analytical methods.

Facilitating Genetic Testing for Perinatal Demise: Development of a Multidisciplinary Workflow

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 6, Page 1273-1285, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Genetic contributors to perinatal demise are common but frequently undiagnosed due to clinical and logistical barriers. We aimed to improve access to genetic for intrauterine fetal demise (IUFD), stillbirth, and early neonatal death by developing a multidisciplinary workflow.

Rapid Analysis of Sports Prohibited Substances in Black Market Pharmaceutical Products Using Atmospheric Solids Analysis Probe‐Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Misuse of performance‐enhancing substances in sport remains a persistent threat to the values of fair competition, with estimated doping prevalence far exceeding adverse analytical findings in routine testing. This highlights the need for improved surveillance tools capable of rapid and simple, on‐site screening methods.

Learning with imperfectly labeled patterns [PDF]

open access: yes
The problem of learning in pattern recognition using imperfectly labeled patterns is considered. The performance of the Bayes and nearest neighbor classifiers with imperfect labels is discussed using a probabilistic model for the mislabeling of the ...

A Comparison of Outcomes and Complications Between Closed Reduction and Open Reduction of Mandibular Condylar and Subcondylar Fractures

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare postoperative outcomes and complications between closed reduction and open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of condylar and subcondylar fractures. Methods This is a multicenter, retrospective database study utilizing data from 64 healthcare organizations in the United States from January 1, 2010 to July 31, 2025. The
