Coordinated recovery of interdependent power and water distribution systems

open access: yesIET Smart Grid, Volume 7, Issue 6, Page 760-775, December 2024.
The authors present a model for the coordinated recovery of interdependent power and water distribution systems. The proposed model allocates the available resources in both power and water distribution systems including solar generation, battery energy storage systems, water stored in tanks, and small pumped‐storage hydropower‐to restore supply in ...

Enhancing microgrid performance: Optimal proactive reactive power dispatch using photovoltaic active power forecasts

open access: yesIET Smart Grid, Volume 7, Issue 6, Page 891-903, December 2024.
A novel method is proposed to manage and control reactive power within microgrids with high integration of photovoltaic panels. A proactive dispatch is carried out for a few minutes in advance, using power forecast and photovoltaic installations as reactive energy providers.

Optimal exact designs of experiments via Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Optimal exact designs are problematic to find and study because there is no unified theory for determining them and studyingtheir properties.

Study on two‐stage optimal scheduling of DC distribution networks considering flexible load response

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 18, Issue 11, Page 1690-1701, November 2024.
This paper proposes a two‐stage optimal scheduling model for the DCDNs considering flexible load response. The first stage is the economic scheduling stage, intending to minimise the operating costs and carbon emissions, while the scheduling of the shiftable, transferable, and reducible loads is optimised.

Joint Planning of Active Distribution Network and EV Charging Stations Considering Vehicle-to-Grid Functionality and Reactive Power Support

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
This paper proposes a collaborative planning model for active distribution network (ADN) and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations that fully considers vehicle-to-grid (V2G) function and reactive power support of EVs in different regions.

Imitation learning‐based online optimal scheduling for microgrids: An approach integrating input clustering and output classification

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 18, Issue 15, Page 3161-3172, 16 November 2024.
Strong uncertainties of distributed renewable generations, loads and real‐time market prices impose higher requirements on the online optimal scheduling for microgrids. Traditional model‐driven methods exist several limitations due to suffer from low solving efficiency, difficulty in handling uncertainties, reliance on accurate prediction information ...

Game-Theory Based V2G Coordination Strategy for Providing Ramping Flexibility in Power Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Large-scale integration of renewable generation into power systems invariably affects the system ramping capability. However, the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) concept that allows for using electric vehicles (EVs) as energy storages with the capability of ...

Misocp-based solution approaches to the unit commitment problem with AC power flows

open access: yes, 2021
Unit Commitment (UC) and Optimal Power Flow (OPF) are fundamental problems in short-term electrical power systems planning. Generally, the UC problem is solved to determine the commitment status of generators. Then, the OPF problem is solved to determine the power generation levels of committed generators.
