DMP_MI: An Effective Diabetes Mellitus Classification Algorithm on Imbalanced Data With Missing Values

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
As a widely known chronic disease, diabetes mellitus is called a silent killer. It makes the body produce less insulin and causes increased blood sugar, which leads to many complications and affects the normal functioning of various organs, such as eyes,

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Missing Values in Factorial Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1956
METHODS of estimating missing values have been discussed by Goulden1. Some applications to factorial experiments were presented by Cochran and Cox2, but they do not give a general formula. If there is one replication of an a × b × c × … f factorial experiment, with n factors A, B, C, … F at a, b, c, … f different levels respectively, then it may be ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Treating missing values in INAR(1) models [PDF]

open access: yes
Time series models for count data have found increased interest in recent days. The existing literature refers to the case of data that have been fully observed.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Navigating the missing data maze: exploring multiple imputation techniques for environmental performance index data

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is widely used to assess a country’s environmental sustainability in terms of climate, environmental health, and ecosystem health.
