Dacryocystorhinostomy with Intraoperative Mitomycin C
Ophthalmology, 1997To observe the effect of intraoperative mitomycin C on the size of the osteotomy site after dacryocystorhinostomy.:A total of 15 eyes of 14 patients diagnosed with primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction were assigned randomly to either a mitomycin C group or a control group.

Intraoperative Mitomycin C in Dacryocystorhinostomy
Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2001To assess the efficacy of intraoperative mitomycin C (MMC) in external dacryocystorhinostomy (EXT-DCR).Forty-six cases (50 lacrimal drainage systems [LDS]) with nasolacrimal duct obstruction were randomized into three groups. In the control group, a standard EXT-DCR procedure was performed. In the two MMC groups, a piece of cotton soaked with 0.2 mg/ml

Potential Toxicity of Mitomycin C
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1991To the Editor. —Chen et al1and Palmer2recently reported on the use of mitomycin C as adjunct chemotherapy during glaucoma filtration surgery. Both investigations followed similar protocols in which the episclera was soaked with a solution of 0.2 to 0.4 mg/mL of mitomycin C for 5 minutes before creating a sclerostomy.

Mitomycin C extravasation ulcers
Journal of Surgical Oncology, 1985AbstractIn a four‐year period, eight patients with mitomycin C extravasation ulcers were encountered. Mitomycin C extravasation produces a painful indolent ulcer that does not have any tendency to heal. If extravasation of the drug is recognized, infusion should be stopped immediately, and the site of infusion should be changed.

Bioactivation and Resistance to Mitomycin C
2004Publisher Summary This chapter analyzes the bioactivation and resistance of tumor cells to mitomycin C (MC). MC is a naturally occurring antibiotic that was isolated originally from the microorganism Streptomyces caspitosus . MC exerts its antitumor activity primarily by damaging DNA through both monofunctional and bifunctional alkylations (cross ...

Mitomycin C extravasation injuries
Cancer, 1983Mitomycin C extravasation produces a chronic painful ulceration similar to that of adriamycin. Pain marks the extravasation of this chemotherapeutic agent when it occurs. A complaint of pain during mitomycin administration should prompt immediate cessation of infusion and regular frequent follow-up.

Cancer chemotherapy and biological response modifiers, 1994
In conclusion, recent work has highlighted the fact that NSCLCs have elevated levels of NQO1 activity and that such an increase represents an excellent target for therapeutic exploitation. The 5-year survival rate seen with lung cancer is dismal and there is a high number of cancer deaths associated with this disease each year.
