Effects of Transapical Transcatheter Mitral Valve Implantation
Purpose: In this study, transapical transcatheter mitral valve-in-valve implantation (TAMVI) was compared with surgical redo mitral valve replacement (SRMVR) in terms of clinical outcomes. Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with degenerated ...

Near‐Fatal Arrhythmia From Severe Mitral Annular Disjunction
Mitral annular disjunction (MAD) is increasingly recognized as a structural abnormality associated with ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac arrest, particularly in the setting of bileaflet mitral valve prolapse (MVP). A 43‐year‐old man with a history of migraines presented following a witnessed out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest and was successfully

Dehiscence of mitral valve annuloplasty: a three-dimensional diagnosis [PDF]
A 74-year old patient underwent aortic valve replacement and mitral annuloplasty (Edwards Lifesciences Physioring, 34 mm). Five weeks post-surgery, he was readmitted because of heart failure due to a severe residual mitral regurgitation. Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography clearly demonstrated the posterolateral area of dehiscence.

Biodegradable Semi-Rigid Mitral Valve Annuloplasty Ring Designed for Children [PDF]
Descriptive information has indicated unsatisfactory outcomes associated with mitral valve plasty in the case of pediatric patients. Conversely, favorable outcomes have been consistently reported in adult cases, primarily attributed to the feasibility of

IgG4-Related Disease Masquerading as Culture-Negative Endocarditis
We detail an extremely rare case of noninfective endocarditis secondary to IgG4-related disease on the mitral valve. A 75-year-old-woman with mitral valve ring annuloplasty presented with subacute, intermittent, self-limiting neurologic deficits ...

A Valve in Valve: Mitral Valve Replacement with Tricuspid Annuloplasty in a Case of Mitral Annular Calcification [PDF]
A 79 year old female presented with history of dyspnoea on exertion (New York Hear Association class III) and palpitation at rest for last 3 years and has developed paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnoea during the last 1 year. On examination she had irregular pulse. She had a hyper dynamic precordium with the apex displaced to the left 6th intercoastal space 1

Mitral valve replacement with annuloplasty in a patient with infected mitral annular calcification
Key Clinical MessageExtensive resection of the infected calcified annulus and the reconstruction with a pericardial patch for the debrided annulus is an effective surgical option for the treatment of infectious endocarditis in patients with mitral annular calcification.AbstractA 78‐year‐old woman was referred to our hospital because of left‐sided ...

Infective endocarditis (IE) imposes a challenge in clinical practice, often demanding rapid and precise identification of the causative agent to guide tailored therapeutic interventions. However, a subset of cases presents an elusive diagnostic dilemma with culture‐negative results, thereby complicating the management strategy.
