New Self-Expanding Transcatheter Valve for Off-Pump Transatrial Mitral Valve-In-Ring Implantation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVES To validate a self-expanding transcatheter valve for off-pump transatrial mitral valve-in-ring (VIR) implantation via a left thoracotomy. METHODS Mitral valve annuloplasty was performed via sternotomy during cardiopulmonary bypass on ...

Edge-to-edge with partial band mitral valve repair compared to replacement and undersized restrictive annuloplasty for ischemic mitral regurgitationCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Techniques
Objective: Evidence supports replacement over repair for ischemic mitral regurgitation due to improved durability; however, the latter often involves an undersized ring annuloplasty that does not include edge-to-edge approximation.

Mitral valve repair without mitral annuloplasty with extensive mitral annular calcification [PDF]

open access: yesInteractive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery, 2014
In mitral valve repair, removal of mitral annular calcification (MAC) is necessary to secure the artificial ring but may cause rupture of the left ventricle or injury to the circumflex coronary artery. We experienced 3 cases of mitral valve regurgitation with extensive MAC. Patient 1, an 83-year old woman, had P1-P2 prolapse due to tendon rupture.

Comparison of Valve Annuloplasty and Replacement for Ischemic Mitral Valve Incompetence

open access: yesThe Heart Surgery Forum, 2008
Mitral incompetence is a chronic sequela of myocardial infarction. It is caused by apical displacement and tethering of the mitral valve leaflets after myocardial infarction, resulting in incomplete coaptation. The consensus is for mitral valve surgery in the presence of significant ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR).

Mitral valve repair with the use of the “Memo 3D ReChord” ring

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2023
Background From a variety of ring types, semirigid ring is more preferred for mitral annuloplasty during mitral valve repair particularly in patients whose native mitral saddle shape annulus is well maintained. During mitral annuloplasty artificial chord

The Novel ACTC1 p.Gly50Ser Variant Is Associated With Arrhythmia and Secondary Features of HCM Without Hypertrophy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 7, Page 1742-1748, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The key diagnostic criterion for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the presence of otherwise unexplained hypertrophy. Current definitions of HCM rely on specific thresholds to establish a diagnosis, while guideline directed risk stratification algorithms take its magnitude into consideration.

Best treatment option for secondary mitral regurgitation surgery: a network meta-analysis of randomized and non-randomized controlled studies

open access: yesScientific Reports
The objective of this study is to ascertain whether subvalvular papillary muscle repair in conjunction with restrictive mitral valve annuloplasty represents the most efficacious treatment for patients presenting with secondary ischemic mitral ...

Sinus Pause and Cognitive Dysfunction: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Bradyarrhythmia‐related cerebral hypoperfusion should be considered in elderly patients presenting with unexplained episodic cognitive decline, particularly when symptoms fluctuate or occur transiently. Prolonged rhythm monitoring may identify potentially treatable arrhythmic causes.
