Mitral regurgitation in children is most commonly associated with chronic rheumatic heart disease, and a number of congenital cardiac lesions may produce a similar lesion. Not uncommonly, a diagnostic problem arises in the older child with classical findings of mitral regurgitation without a history of rheumatic fever.

[Repair in rheumatic mitral valve insufficiency].

Results of mitral valve reconstruction in mitral valve insufficiency.

In the last three years forty mitral valve reconstruction (MR) procedures were performed in case of mitral insufficiency (MI). In three cases, anatomical changes made reconstruction impossible for us. One patient had to be re-operated because of unsatisfactory valve function. There was no operative mortality.
