Long‐term prognosis of pure and impure tachycardiomyopathy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Tachycardia‐induced cardiomyopathy (TCM) is a reversible form of heart failure (HF) driven by arrhythmias, often atrial fibrillation (AF). While reversible, TCM's long‐term prognosis remains unclear, especially in comparison to HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Adaptation of right ventricular function following tricuspid transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Right ventricular remodelling following tricuspid transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair. After T‐TEER, most patients either maintain or decrease their RVEF, while only a minority experience an increase. Patients with increased RVEF were associated with TR worsening and worse prognosis.

Mean pulmonary arterial pressure after percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty predicts long-term adverse outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty (PMV) is an effective treatment option for mitral stenosis (MS), but its success is assessed on the basis of clinical and echocardiographic outcomes in studies with relatively short follow-up.

Employment of artificial intelligence for an unbiased evaluation regarding the recovery of right ventricular function after mitral valve transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Impact of mitral transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair (M‐TEER) on left and right heart function. IQR, interquartile range; LA, left atrial; RVEF, right ventricular ejection fraction; sPAP, systolic pulmonary artery pressure; TAPSE, tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion. Abstract Aims Long‐standing severe mitral regurgitation (MR) leads to left atrial

Ethnical variations in the incidence of congenital heart defects in Gorgan, Northern Iran: A single-center study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common congenital anomaly in newborns. This study was performed to determine the live birth incidence of CHD by ethnicity and sex in Gorgan, Northern Iran.

Mitral regurgitation in patients with severe aortic stenosis: Diagnosis and management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Severe aortic stenosis (AS) and mitral regurgitation (MR) frequently coexist. Although some observational studies have reported that moderate or severe MR is associated with higher mortality, the optimal management of such patients is still unclear ...

Liver stiffness measurement for non‐invasive assessment of central venous pressure in patients with heart failure: A multicentre pilot study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Liver stiffness measurement for central venous pressure assessment. AUC, area under the curve; BMI, body mass index; CI, confidence interval; CVP, central venous pressure; HF, heart failure; LSM, liver stiffness measurement; LVEF, left ventricular ejection fraction. Abstract Aims Central venous pressure (CVP) is an important variable in assessing heart
