Experimental Study on Cavitation in Mixed-Flow Pump Impellers

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1963
Several mixed-flow pump impellers were tested in a test pump for the purpose of studying the effects of the number of vanes and the inlet edge shape on their performance and cavitation characteristics. The shockless entry flow rates were obtained from the incipient cavitation conditions and inlet flow deviation angles were found, their degree varying ...

Research on the Internal Flow Difference between Peak and Valley Conditions of Water Jet Propulsion Pump during Working at Hump Region

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
When we tested the water jet propulsion pump, we found that there were significant vibrations in the pump, especially at small flow points that deviated from the design conditions. The water jet propulsion pump is a mixed-flow pump with guide vane, which

Performance Evaluation and Dimensional Analysis of Multistage Helicoaxial Pump for Two-Phase Flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power, 2019
A four stage helicoaxial pump was tested under varying operating conditions. A range of inlet pressures, rotational speeds (3000, 3600 rpm), and gas void fractures (GVFs) were considered for two fluid viscosities.

Numerical and experimental study of mixed flow pump as turbine for remote rural micro hydro power plant application

open access: yesJournal of Mechatronics, Electrical Power, and Vehicular Technology, 2022
The use of a pump as opposed to a turbine/pump as turbine (PAT) for off-grid electrification applications is one of the important ways to be considered in efforts to equalize electrical energy in Indonesia.

Research on the Non-uniform Flow Characteristics in a Screw Mixed-flow Deep-sea Mining Pump [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Deep-sea slurry pump is a crucial component for achieving vertical transportation of ore particles in pump-pipe lifting deep-sea mining systems. However, traditional mining pump structures face challenges, such as insufficient particle flow capacity and ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

CFD Analysis of Cavitation Phenomena in Mixed-Flow Pump [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Machinery and Systems, 2012
This paper deals with the CFD analysis of cavitating flow in the mixed-flow pump with the specific speed of 1.64 which suffers from a high level of noise and vibrations close to the optimal flow coefficient. The ANSYS CFX package has been used to solve URANS equations together with the Rayleigh-Plesset model and the SST-SAS turbulence model has been ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
