A Novel Approach to Energy Management in Electric Steelworks
Feed‐forward neural networks are exploited to estimate electric energy consumptions of the electric arc furnace and ladle furnace processes. The models are used to optimize production schedule so that more energy intensive grades are produced when the cost of energy is lower.

ABSTRACT As Large Language Models (LLMs) are increasingly deployed within the systems engineering domain, optimizing these models to balance performance accuracy and cost for given computational resources becomes essential. One process for finding the right balance is quantization, a process that involves converting model parameters from higher ...

ABSTRACT Building energy systems integrating multiple energy sources can effectively reduce energy consumption and facilitate renewable energy integration. Integrating electrical energy storage (EES) into these systems helps accommodate the increasing share of renewables; however, the stochastic and intermittent nature of solar power still poses ...

Multi‐Strategy Synergy‐Based Differential Evolution for Large Wind Farm Layout Optimization
ABSTRACT Exploring clean energy alternatives to fossil fuels has become a major research focus worldwide. Wind energy is regarded as one of the most promising renewable energy sources due to its clean and sustainable nature. However, wake interactions among turbines significantly reduce power conversion efficiency, making wind farm layout optimization (

Optimizing Supply Chain Design under Demand Uncertainty with Quantity Discount Policy
In typical business situations, sellers usually offer discount schemes to buyers to increase overall profitability. This study aims to design a supply chain network under uncertainty of demand by integrating an all-unit quantity discount policy.

ABSTRACT Extreme icing disasters increasingly undermine the reliability of integrated power and heat networks by causing line outages, supply shortages and sharp thermal load fluctuations. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a comprehensive optimisation framework that exploits the spatiotemporal flexibility of data centres for coordinated ...

Firefly penalty-based algorithm for bound constrained mixed-integer nonlinear programming
In this article, we aim to extend the firefly algorithm (FA) to solve bound constrained mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problems. An exact penalty continuous formulation of the MINLP problem is used.
