Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Review: Mixed-Matrix Membranes with CNT for CO2 Separation Processes

open access: yesMembranes, 2021
The membranes’ role is of supreme importance in the separation of compounds under different phases of matter. The topic addressed here is based on the use of membranes on the gases separation, specifically the advantages of mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs ...

Lysozyme Separation by MP500 Mixed Matrix Membrane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Rapid developments in biotechnology increase the demand to separate biomolecules using mild process conditions. The separation of lysozyme by mixed matrix membrane adsorbers was studied.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

A Review on Mixed Matrix Membranes for Solvent Dehydration and Recovery Process

open access: yesMembranes, 2021
Solvent separation and dehydration are important operations for industries and laboratories. Processes such as distillation and extraction are not always effective and are energy-consuming.

Mitochondrial precursor proteins are imported through a hydrophilic membrane environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
We have analyzed how translocation intermediates of imported mitochondrial precursor proteins, which span contact sites, interact with the mitochondrial membranes.

Synthetic Guidelines for Highly Selective Mixed Matrix Membrane

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2021
Mixed matrix membrane materials (MMMs) are gaining much interest in the field of gas separation research. This work investigates the ‘right’ filler and matrix combination (in terms of phase gas transport compatibility) in an MMM to achieve maximum selectivity in gas mixtures.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Mechanisms of light harvesting by photosystem II in plants

open access: yes, 2015
Light harvesting by photosystem II (PSII) in plants is highly efficient and acclimates to rapid changes in the intensity of sunlight. However, the mechanisms of PSII light harvesting have remained experimentally inaccessible.
