Numerical Analysis of a New Mixed Formulation for Eigenvalue Convection-Diffusion Problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A mixed formulation is proposed and analyzed mathematically for coupled convection-diffusion in heterogeneous medias. Transfer in solid parts driven by pure diffusion is coupled with convection-diffusion transfer in fluid parts. This study is carried out for

Scaling of Convective Mixing in Porous Media [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
Convective mixing in porous media is triggered by a Rayleigh-Bénard-type hydrodynamic instability as a result of an unstable density stratification of fluids. While convective mixing has been studied extensively, the fundamental behavior of the dissolution flux and its dependence on the system parameters are not yet well understood.

Dynamo Effects Near The Transition from Solar to Anti-Solar Differential Rotation

open access: yes, 2015
Numerical MHD simulations play increasingly important role for understanding mechanisms of stellar magnetism. We present simulations of convection and dynamos in density-stratified rotating spherical fluid shells.

Winter Mixed Layer Restratification Induced by Vertical Eddy Buoyancy Flux in the Labrador Sea

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Numerical model studies have shown that the lateral buoyancy transports from eddies restratify the convection region in the Labrador Sea. However, restratification by vertical motion during and after convection has been underestimated.

Numerical prediction of mixed convection heat transfer in an enclosure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this article the transport mechanism of laminar mixed convection in a shear and buoyancy driven cavity flow with locally heated lower wall and moving cooled sidewalls is numerically studied using cubic interpolation profile method.
