OBJECTIVE Some of the manifestations of mixed cryoglobulinemia syndrome (MCS) can be severe or life-threatening, and should be rapidly contained but, as the therapeutic approaches to such conditions are largely based on anecdotal data, a consensus ...

Biomarkers of minimal residual disease in rituximab‐treated patients with mixed cryoglobulinemia
Biotechnology and applied biochemistry, 2020Hepatitis C virus (HCV) represents the major risk factor for mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC), a small‐vessel vasculitis that may evolve into an overt B‐cell non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Mixed cryoglobulinemia: new concepts
Lupus, 2000The most documented extrahepatic manifestation of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC). MC is characterised by the presence of temperature-sensitive protein complexes: in type II MC, cryoglobulins are composed of a monoclonal rheumatoid factor (usually, IgMk) against polyclonal IgG.

Mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC) includes:MC type II, composed by polyclonal IgGmonoclonal IgM, and MC type III, composed by polyclonal IgG-polyclonal IgM immune-complexes. MC may be secondary to various immunological, hematological, and infectiousd iseases, or it can represent a distinct disorder, the ‘essential’ MC.

Cryoglobulins are immunoglobulins that persist in serum, precipitate with cold temperature, and resolve when rewarmed. Cryoglobulinemia are part of systemic vasculitis, and they are in the subgroup of immune complex type vasculitis. Mixed cryoglobulinemia are associated with malignant B lymphoproliferative disorders, auto-immune and chronic infectious ...
