Laboratory Practices for the Detection and Characterization of Cryoglobulins and Cryofibrinogen
This study shows the importance of carrying out the search for both cryoproteins, cryoglobulins, and cryofibrinogen in cases of strong clinical suspicion of cryoproteinemia, despite their complex but not impossible detection. Use of correct procedures from the pre‐preanalytical phase up to reporting, of alternative methods such as immunotyping and the ...

Cryoglobulinemic vasculitis and skin ulcers. Our therapeutic strategy and review of the literature [PDF]
Objective: Cryoglobulinemic vasculitis (CV) involving small- and medium-sized vessels is very frequently associated with hepatitis C virus and may be responsible for multiple organ involvement and skin ulcers (SU).

HCV clearance during direct‐acting antiviral therapy rapidly increases serum lipids and lipoproteins, potentially elevating cardiovascular risk. These metabolic changes, mediated by genes regulating hepatic lipogenesis, suggest that lipid levels should be closely monitored post‐SVR to assess long‐term cardiovascular implications.

Extrahepatic Replication and Genomic Signatures of the Hepatitis E Virus in the Kidney
ABSTRACT Introduction The hepatitis E virus (HEV; species Paslahepevirus balayani) is a common human pathogenic and zoonotic virus that can cause both acute fulminant and chronic hepatitis. Despite its reputation as a hepatotropic virus, HEV infection is also associated with a number of extrahepatic diseases, including kidney disorders.

Clinical characteristics of the course of HIV infection with concomitant cryoglobulinemia [PDF]
This paper describes clinical cases of HIV-infection with concomitant cryopathy at different clinical stages. The peculiarities of HIV/AIDS according to comorbidity and the effect of different modes of treatment on the phenomenon of cryoglobulinemia have

How hepatitis C virus modifies the immunological profile of Sjögren syndrome: analysis of 783 patients. [PDF]
Introduction: We conducted a study to analyze how infection by hepatitis C virus (HCV) may influence the immunological serum pattern of patients with Sjögren syndrome (SS). Methods: Since 1994, we have tested serum HCV-IgG antibodies in 783 patients with

Hospitalisations With Cryoglobulin‐Related Diseases in Spain Over 25 Years
ABSTRACT Background The epidemiology of cryoglobulinemia in Spain has likely changed following the widespread adoption of direct‐acting antivirals (DAAs) since 2015 for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, the principal cause of mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC).
