Do Politically Connected Board Members Influence Firms' Debt Choices? Public Debt Versus Bank Debt
ABSTRACT Using a unique hand‐collected data set on the political connections of board members of S&P 1500 companies, we find that board members with stronger government ties are positively associated with firms' preference for public debt over bank debt.

Pairwise Imitation and Tournament Graphs
ABSTRACT This paper investigates strategic dynamics under the behavioral rule of pairwise interact and imitate (PII), which requires minimal information and emphasizes outperforming opponents in pairwise interactions. We characterize PII using weak tournament graphs and, for a broad class of dynamics, establish a one‐shot stability result for ...

ABSTRACT Regressive transfer has been a subject that has not been extensively researched in the field of third language acquisition. This study aims to examine the extent to which a highly advanced knowledge of a third language (L3) affects the first language (L1) and the second language (L2) of early bilinguals in light of the Differential Stability ...

Using numerical Monte Carlo simulations of nanoparticle‐T‐cell receptors binding, we show that the spatial organization of surface receptors is important for affinity‐based discrimination of peptide‐major histocompatibility complex ligands. Interaction geometry modulates the sensitivity of the T‐cell response to both ligand concentration and binding ...

The Role of Dice in the Emergence of the Probability Calculus
Summary The early development of the probability calculus was clearly influenced by the roll of dice. However, while dice have been cast since time immemorial, documented calculations on the frequency of various dice throws date back only to the mid‐13th century.
