HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Investigation of the effect of metal-organic framework containing additional carboxyl group on CO2 separation in PEBAX-based membrane [PDF]

open access: yesشیمی کاربردی روز
Membrane-based processes have attracted significant attention as economical methods for separation. In this study, mixed matrix membranes were fabricated by incorporating UiO-66-(COOH)2 into a poly(ether-block-amide) matrix at various loading percentages

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Fabricating a Polysulfone-ZIF-8 Composite Membrane for Separating CO2 and CH4 [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering
In this research, a mixed matrix membrane based on polysulfone and zinc nitrate-methylimidazole fillers was synthesized to improve the ability of the polymer membrane for the separation of CO2 and CH4.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

High Selective Mixed Membranes Based on Mesoporous MCM-41 and MCM-41-NH2 Particles in a Polysulfone Matrix

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
The development of membrane technology for gas separation processes evolved with the fabrication of so-called mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) as an alternative to neat polymers, in order to improve the overall membrane effectiveness.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Developmental, Neuroanatomical and Cellular Expression of Genes Causing Dystonia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Dystonia is one of the most common movement disorders, with variants in multiple genes identified as causative. However, an understanding of which developmental stages, brain regions, and cell types are most relevant is crucial for developing relevant disease models and therapeutics.

Monocyte LOXHD1 and RHOB Expression Predictive of Progressive Systemic Sclerosis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A leading cause of death among patients with scleroderma (SSc), interstitial lung disease (ILD) remains challenging to prognosticate. The discovery of biomarkers that accurately determine which patients would benefit from close monitoring and aggressive therapy would be an essential clinical tool.

Decarbonization via bio-MOF-impregnated polysulfone-based hybrid membranes

open access: yesPolymer Testing
Bio-metal-organic frameworks (Bio-MOFs) are promising materials for membrane development due to their unique structural properties and high CO2 affinity. This study explores integration of Bio-MOF-11 into a polysulfone matrix, demonstrating its potential
