Association Between Body Mass Index and Depressive Symptom Trajectories Among Chinese Middle and Old Aged Adults: A Cohort Analysis Based on the CHARLS

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The prevalence of depressive symptoms among middle‐aged and older adults persists at concerning levels. Despite this high prevalence, limited research has investigated the association between body mass index (BMI) and longitudinal trajectories of depressive symptoms.

The Molecular and Immunological Landscape in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) Differs by Somatostatin Receptor 2 (SSTR2) Expression

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Somatostatin receptor 2 is expressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). We report genomic and transcriptomic analysis results of 163 NPC cases, demonstrating that somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) gene expression in EBV‐positive and in EBV‐negative NPC correlated with genomic alterations and an inflamed microenvironment.

Fatty Acid‐Binding Protein 5 Potentially Regulates the Proliferation and Metastasis of Uveal Melanoma Cells Through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR Signaling Pathway

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Single‐cell and bulk sequencing reveal SPON2, MATK, and FABP5 as prognostic indicators in uveal melanoma. We demonstrated that FABP5 promotes malignancy via the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, as genetic knockdown impairs tumor growth and is rescued by 740Y‐P pharmacological pathway activation. These findings highlight FABP5 maybe as a critical driver of immune

Ganoderic Acid A Ameliorates Pentylenetetrazol‐Induced Epilepsy in Mice via Activating KCNQ2

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
GA‐A binds and activates KCNQ2, thereby reducing epileptic‐like EEG discharges, the loss and apoptosis of hippocampal neurons, and improving anxiety and depression‐like behavioral changes. In addition, GA‐A inhibits neuroinflammation and alleviates oxidative stress independent of activating KCNQ2.

Pattools‑implemented methylation vector analysis reveals aberrant subtype‑specific methylation in lung cancer across tissue and plasma cfDNA

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
1. 115 tissue samples across five lung cancer subtypes and matched plasma cfDNA were profiled by WGBS. 2. Pattools implements methylation vector (MV) clustering to isolate tumour‐specific fragments from immune and cell‐origin signals in bulk BS‐seq. 3.

Cancer‐related pain: A bidirectional modulator of cancer progression

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
CRP and tumour progression engage in a dynamic, bidirectional circuit mediated by multiple mechanisms involving neuroimmunology and cancer ‐neuroscience. Analgesic interventions may affect tumour progression, while anticancer therapies can influence pain. Targeting pain in cancer may have promising therapeutic value in cancer progression.

TMEM59L promotes neuroendocrine differentiation and enzalutamide resistance in prostate cancer by regulating MUC1/β‐catenin/MYC axis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Enzalutamide‐mediated AR suppression induces TMEM59L during prostate cancer progression. TMEM59L interacts with MUC1 and promotes its nuclear enrichment. Nuclear MUC1 activates β‐catenin/TCF4‐dependent MYC signalling, driving neuroendocrine differentiation, stemness and EMT.
