Homoclinic solutions in periodic partial difference equations

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
By using critical point theory in combination with periodic approximations, we obtain novel sufficient conditions for the existence of nontrivial homoclinic solutions for a class of periodic partial difference equations with sign-changing mixed ...

Hybrid Modeling and Optimization of Yogurt Starter Culture Continuous Fermentation [PDF]

open access: yesBioautomation, 2009
The present paper presents a hybrid model of yogurt starter mixed culture fermentation. The main nonlinearities within a classical structure of continuous process model are replaced by neural networks.

Threshold Accepting Heuristic for Fair Flow Optimization in Wireless Mesh Networks

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
Developing effective, fairness-preserving optimization algorithms is of considerable importance in systems which serve many users. In this paper we show the results of the threshold accepting procedure applied to extremely difficult problem of fair ...

Normalized Ground States for Mixed Fractional Schrödinger Equations with Combined Local and Nonlocal Nonlinearities

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This paper studies the existence, regularity, and properties of normalized ground state solutions for the mixed fractional Schrödinger equations. For subcritical cases, we establish the boundedness and Sobolev regularity of solutions, derive Pohozaev ...

Subcritical nonlocal problems with mixed boundary conditions

open access: yesBulletin of Mathematical Sciences
By using linking and [Formula: see text]-theorems in this paper we prove the existence of multiple solutions for the following nonlocal problem with mixed Dirichlet–Neumann boundary data, (−Δ)su = λu + f(x,u)in Ω,u = 0 on Σ𝒟,∂u ∂Μ = 0 onÂ ÎŁđ’©, where ...

Calculation of mixing in nonlinear circuits

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1985
A novel scheme is described for calculating the harmonic response of a nonlinear circuit driven by two or more signals incommensurate in frequency. The method, which is a natural extension of the harmonic balance technique, is not limited by the degree of nonlinearity or signal strengths nor by their proximity in frequency.

Kramers dichroism in PT-symmetric magnets

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
The quantum states in doubly degenerate Kramers pairs can act as an internal degree of freedom. Here, we uncover a Kramers dichroism in PT-symmetric magnets: interband transitions induced by circularly polarized light irradiation can selectively polarize
