On the experience and evidence about mixing modes of data collection in large-scale surveys where the web is used as one of the modes in data collection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents experience and evidence, from international sources, of the effects on survey quality of the use of mixed modes in data collection, where the web is used as one of the modes.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

The impact of simultaneous inoculation with Torulaspora delbrueckii and Hanseniaspora uvarum combined with Saccharomyces cerevisiae on chemical and sensory quality of Sauvignon blanc wines

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Non-Saccharomyces yeasts have great potential in improving wine quality, showing personality characteristics, and highlighting the terroir of wine. In this study, we evaluated the impact of simultaneous inoculation with the non-Saccharomyces yeasts ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Quality characteristics of Cheonggukjang by mixed culture of biogenic amine producing- and degrading-bacteria

open access: yesKorean Journal of Food Preservation, 2019
The objective of this study was to evaluate biogenic amine (BA) formation and degradation abilities of Bacillus strain and lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from meju and doenjang and to determine the microbiological and physicochemical qualities of Cheonggukjang prepared by mixed culture of these strains. Accumulation of cadaverine (421.7 ± 11.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
