Abstract Mixed tumors (pleomorphic adenomas) are the most common salivary gland tumors. They may develop in any anatomic site in which salivary glands are located, including ectopic locations. Paradoxically, the lower lip is the one location where very few mixed tumors develop, even though salivary glands are present in abundance.
