Numerical Investigation of Sheet-Gyroid Structure Modifications for Mixing Application in Renewable Energy Technologies

open access: yesEnergies
The presented study focuses on evaluating the mixing properties of structures derived from the so-called sheet-gyroid geometry and their modifications as advanced mixing elements in renewable energy technologies.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Efficient infrared upconversion via a ladder-type atomic configuration

open access: yes, 2012
We have demonstrated experimentally that infrared light at 1529.4nm can be converted into the visible at 780nm with 54% efficiency through a ladder-type atomic configuration in 85Rb.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Four-wave mixing, quantum control and compensating losses in doped negative-index photonic metamaterials

open access: yes, 2007
The possibility of compensating absorption in negative-index metatamterials (NIMs) doped by resonant nonlinear-optical centers is shown. The role of quantum interference and extraordinary properties of four-wave parametric amplification of counter ...

On the Analysis of Mixed-Index Time Fractional Differential Equation Systems [PDF]

open access: yesAxioms, 2018
In this paper, we study the class of mixed-index time fractional differential equations in which different components of the problem have different time fractional derivatives on the left-hand side. We prove a theorem on the solution of the linear system of equations, which collapses to the well-known Mittag–Leffler solution in the case that the ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
