Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Effect of replacement of concentrate mixture with a multi-nutrient liquid supplement on perfomance of bufflao heifers

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2016
The primary objective of this experiment was to study the effect of replacement of concentrate mixture with molasses based multi-nutrient liquid supplements that contained either 2 (MMLS) or 4% mineral mixture (MMLS plus) on performance of buffalo ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Rauvolfia Serpentina and Peperomia Pellucida as Antiparasitic Spray Against Rhipicephalus Sanguineus Latreille

open access: yesInternational Journal of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, 2023
Rauwolfia serpentina (serpentina) and peperomia pellucida (pansit-pansitan) were used as the raw materials for creating different mixtures to determine which concentration is faster in exterminating Rhipicephalus sanguineus latrille (common ticks).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Investigation of Nonlinear Output-Input Microwave Power of DMSO-Ethanol Mixture by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
The nonlinear response of output-input microwave power for DMSO-ethanol mixture, which was exhibited as the direct evidence of non-thermal effect in experiment, was investigated by molecular dynamics simulation.

Shrinkage simplex-centroid designs for a quadratic mixture model

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Engineering International, 2017
A simplex-centroid design for q mixture components comprises of all possible subsets of the q components, present in equal proportions. The design does not contain full mixture blends except the overall centroid.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The effect of a mixture of two plant growth-promoting bacteria from Argentina on the yield of potato, and occurrence of primary potato diseases and pest – short communication

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and Plant Science, 2019
In 2017, we conducted a field experiment to test the influence of a mixture of two plant growth-promoting bacteria (Pseudomonas fluorescens and Azospirillum brasilense) on the yield of three potato varieties.
