THE EFFECT OF CRUMB RUBBER ADDITIVE INTO HOT MIX ASPHALT PERFORMANCE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Many researches have been conducted in finding alternative materials in order to be used as a modifier in asphalt mixture for the purpose of improving its properties. This thesis presents a study of laboratory evaluation on the performance of hot-mixed

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Supplementing growing Holstein steers fed a corn-urea diet with a mixture of essential amino acids increases performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Six ruminally cannulated Holstein steers (550 lb) implanted with Revalor-S were infused abomasally with water or a mixture of six amino acids in a crossover experiment (two 14-day periods) to evaluate effects on nitrogen balance.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Verification of Suitability of Substrate Composition for Production and Quality of Biogas

open access: yesActa Technologica Agriculturae, 2018
The paper deals with biogas yield production from two co-substrates - sorghum silage mixture of corn silage and crushed potatoes combined with mixture of livestock manure and swine slurry - in a semi-continuous digester under mesophilic conditions.

Influence of a probiotic/trace mineral mixture on growth performance and salmonella choleraesuis shedding in nursery pigs

open access: yes, 1996
We tested a probiotic/trace mineral mixture using a bacterial challenge model in high-health status pigs. We examined the influence of the mixture on growth performance, hematologic parameters, haptoglobin concentration, and Salmonella choleraesuis ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Soil biological recovery and plant growth under arbuscular mycorrizhal fungi inoculation in iron mining tailings and soil mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Agrotecnologia
The deposition of iron mining tailings impairs soil quality and hinders its recovery. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) associated with plants may enhance soil restructuring, biochemical processes, and functionality.3 This study aimed to evaluate plant ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
