Two Faces of NOTCH1 in Childhood Lymphoblastic T‐Cell Neoplasia: Prognostic Divergence of Mutational and Structural Aberrations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In pediatric patients, T‐cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T‐LBL) survival exceeds 80%. Relapse remains associated with limited curative options. Frontline treatment is largely extrapolated from T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) treatment, reflecting the ongoing debate, whether both entities represent distinct diseases or variants within ...

Biclustering of Gene Expression Data by an Extension of Mixtures of Factor Analyzers [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biostatistics, 2008
A challenge in microarray data analysis concerns discovering local structures composed by sets of genes that show homogeneous expression patterns across subsets of conditions. We present an extension of the mixture of factor analyzers model (MFA) allowing for simultaneous clustering of genes and conditions.

Ethnic Differences in the Association Between SOD2 rs4880 and Hepatotoxicity in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Report From the REDIAL Consortium

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

Robust, fuzzy, and parsimonious clustering, based on mixtures of Factor Analyzers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Approximate Reasoning, 2018
A clustering algorithm that combines the advantages of fuzzy clustering and robust statistical estimators is presented. It is based on mixtures of Factor Analyzers, endowed by the joint usage of trimming and the constrained estimation of scatter matrices, in a modified maximum likelihood approach.

Model-based clustering via linear cluster-weighted models

open access: yes, 2015
A novel family of twelve mixture models with random covariates, nested in the linear $t$ cluster-weighted model (CWM), is introduced for model-based clustering.

Venous Thromboembolism in Pediatric Bone Sarcoma Patients: A 10‐Year, Single‐Institution Experience Encompassing the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing

Parsimonious Shifted Asymmetric Laplace Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A family of parsimonious shifted asymmetric Laplace mixture models is introduced. We extend the mixture of factor analyzers model to the shifted asymmetric Laplace distribution.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Probabilistic Inference from Arbitrary Uncertainty using Mixtures of Factorized Generalized Gaussians

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a general and efficient framework for probabilistic inference and learning from arbitrary uncertain information. It exploits the calculation properties of finite mixture models, conjugate families and factorization.
