Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Robust fitting of mixture of factor analyzers using the trimmed likelihood estimator [PDF]
Master of ScienceDepartment of StatisticsWeixin YaoMixtures of factor analyzers have been popularly used to cluster the high dimensional data. However, the traditional estimation method is based on the normality assumptions of random terms and thus is ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Flexible Clustering with a Sparse Mixture of Generalized Hyperbolic Distributions
Robust clustering of high-dimensional data is an important topic because, in many practical situations, real data sets are heavy-tailed and/or asymmetric.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Detecting Wine Adulterations Employing Robust Mixture of Factor Analyzers [PDF]
An authentic food is one that is what it claims to be. Nowadays, more and more attention is devoted to the food market: stakeholders, throughout the value chain, need to receive exact information about the specific product they are commercing with. To ascertain varietal genuineness and distinguish potentially doctored food, in this paper we propose to ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Performance, emissions, and physical characteristics of a rotating combustion aircraft engine [PDF]
The RC2-75, a liquid cooled two chamber rotary combustion engine (Wankel type), designed for aircraft use, was tested and representative baseline (212 KW, 285 BHP) performance and emissions characteristics established.
