Molecular characterization of calponin in the catch muscle of the Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Fisheries Science, 2014
Full-length cDNA clone encoding calponin from the catch muscle of the Yesso scallop, Mizuhopecten yessoensis, was isolated and sequenced. Scallop calponin consists of 384 amino acid residues and its deduced molecular weight was 42,154. The motif structure is composed of a single calponin homology domain and five tandem calponin domains, which are ...

Cadmium-induced alterations in essential trace element homoeostasis in the tissues of scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Pharmacology, Toxicology and Endocrinology, 1995
Studies were performed regarding the effect of cadmium accumulation on the levels of essential elements (copper, zinc and iron) in the tissues of a marine bivalve mollusc, Mizuhopecten yessoensis, exposed to cadmium at 250 ppb during 2 weeks.

Development of Microsatellite Markers for Japanese Scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis) and Their Application to a Population Genetic Study

Marine Biotechnology, 2005
The Japanese scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis) is one of the main fishery products in Japan, but with the expansion of culture operations of the Japanese scallop, various problems have been encountered including high mortality, poor growth, poor seed production, and so on.

Functional characterization of an invertebrate gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor in the Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 2019
The neuropeptide control of bivalve reproduction with particular reference to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (invGnRH) is a frontier yet to be investigated. Bivalves are unique because they have two forms of the invGnRH peptide; however, there has been no functional characterization of the peptide-receptor pair.

A Model for the Stochastic Multidimensional Growth of Mizuhopecten yessoensis (Jay, 1857) (Bivalvia: Pectinidae)

Russian Journal of Marine Biology, 2018
A mathematical model that describes the growth of a complex of characters in an organism that inhabits a stochastic environment is discussed. The concepts of noise-induced and structural variability of characters are determined. The model is demonstrated based on the example of the bivalve Mizuhopecten yessoensis.

Thermostability of striated and smooth adductor muscle tropomyosins from Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis

Journal of Biochemistry, 2010
The striated and smooth adductor muscle tropomyosins (TMs) of Yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis have been known to express different isoforms, but have not been characterized in detail to date. In the present study, TMs from both muscles of Yesso scallop were purified and their stabilities were compared by circular dichroism (CD) spectrometry and ...

Temporal dynamics of genetic diversity of Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis (Jay, 1856)

Biology Bulletin, 2010
The season and age-related dependence of the distribution of the frequency of alleles and of five polymorphous loci have been studied for eight cultivated samples of the Japanese scallop M. yessoensis (Jay) from Alexeev Bay (Popov Island, Sea of Japan) using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis The consistency of the frequency of alleles and of ...

Epibiotic macroalgae on the scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis in Peter the Great Bay, Sea of Japan

Russian Journal of Marine Biology, 2010
The composition and structure of the epibiotic flora of the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis were studied on the basis of data from long-term (1979 to 2007) observations on the scallop beds in Peter the Great Bay (Sea of Japan). In all, 52 species of macroalgae belonging to three phyla were found on the scallop shells; 3 species were new ...

Mortality of late juvenile and adult stages of the scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis (Jay)

Aquaculture, 1996
Abstract Age and size distributions of living populations of the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis (Jay) and accumulations of dead scallop shells were compared in two areas of Peter the Great Bay (northwestern Sea of Japan) to determine the life stages at which higher mortality occurs.

Temporal dynamics of morphologic diversity of the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten Yessoensis (Jay, 1856)

Biology Bulletin, 2011
The temporal diversity of 11 morphological features of both shell valves in eight cultivated samples of the Japanese scallop M. yessoensis from Alexeev Bay (Popov Island, Sea of Japan) at different ages and from different generations was analyzed. The sample diversity with respect to each investigated feature was observed. The sample differences in the
