Evaluation of Humidity, Clouds and Precipitation in COSMO-CLM and MM5 over Germany
The knowledge of uncertainties resulting from simulations of the hydrological cycle in meteorological models is crucial for the interpretation of model results. In order to gain confidence in statements about future changes, it is necessary to assess the

Evaluation of radiative transfer schemes for mesoscale model data assimilation: a case study [PDF]
The assimilation of Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) data into the Mesoscale Model 5 (MM5) allows for improving the weather forecast. However the results suggested an update the Radiative Transfer Equation (RTE) within the three-dimensional ...

A 1.3 cm Line Survey toward Orion KL
Orion KL has served as a benchmark for spectral line searches throughout the (sub)millimeter regime. The main goal is to systematically study spectral characteristics of Orion KL in the 1.3 cm band. We carried out a spectral line survey (17.9 GHz to 26.2

Modeling and analysis of the variability of the water cycle in the upper Rio Grande basin at high resolution [PDF]
Estimating the water budgets in a small-scale basin is a challenge, especially in the mountainous western United States, where the terrain is complex and observational data in the mountain areas are sparse.

Evaluation of Interregional Transport Using the MM5–SCIPUFF System
Abstract Improved understanding of transport issues and source–receptor relationships on the interregional scale is dependent on reducing the uncertainties in the ability to define complex three-dimensional wind fields evolving in time.

Ensemble‐based simultaneous state and parameter estimation with MM5
The performance of the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) under imperfect model conditions is investigated through simultaneous state and parameter estimation for a numerical weather prediction model of operational complexity (MM5). The source of model error is assumed to be the uncertainty in the vertical eddy mixing coefficient.

Different Evolutionary Stages in the Massive Star Forming Region W3 Main Complex
We observed three high-mass star-forming regions in the W3 high-mass star formation complex with the Submillimeter Array and IRAM 30 m telescope. These regions, i.e. W3 SMS1 (W3 IRS5), SMS2 (W3 IRS4) and SMS3, are in different evolutionary stages and are
