Random Access Procedure for mMTC
2019In this chapter, the random access procedure for mMTC is discussed. First, the grant-based random access including the long term evolution (LTE) random access channel (RACH) is introduced. Then a suitable random access procedure for mMTC called grant-free random access is presented.

A Random Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Scheme for mMTC
2017 IEEE 85th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2017Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) is one key usage scenario in future 5G. To fulfill the massive connection requirement in mMTC, and reduce the signaling overhead, a novel grant free Random Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (RNOMA) scheme is proposed in this paper, inspired by the concept of conventional NOMA.

Fading-aligned OFDM with index modulation for mMTC services
Physical Communication, 2019Abstract 5th generation (5G) of wireless networking is coming with diverse use cases, such as enhanced-Mobile BroadBand (eMBB), Ultra Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC). As a result, 5G wireless networks require flexible physical layer solutions through new radio access technologies (RATs).
